We opened our doors in 1915

From warm handshakes and embraces to warm sweet bread and coffee, El Mesias United Methodist Church, located at 406 E Rittenhouse St, Houston, TX 77076 has been a haven of prayer, worship, hospitality, and warmth since it first opened its doors in 1914. Founder Aurelio Arias felt a calling to open a community center and boarding house in the growing Latino sector of north Houston and went to work immediately. He included a weekly service, available to any of the tenants, and after just a short time this little boarding house and community center acquired its own official location. In 1919, El Mesias United Methodist Church began its glorious life.

Throughout the years, El Mesias has implemented and participated in numerous community outreach programs from Vacation Bible School to partnering with AAMA (Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans) that have helped shape not only the church’s direction but the surrounding area as well.

Recently, however, membership has waned and El Mesias finds itself in danger of closing its doors. This jewel of north Houston is in need of assistance from supporters like you who believe that the word of God is undeniable. If you’re reading this, we ask for your assistance as any donation made on this website will go directly to ensuring that El Mesias continues to shine brightly and provide a positive force for God.

We thank you in advance for your support and pray that God envelopes you and your family in his goodness and warmth.

God bless you,
